The event was attended by a small number of the Ermin Street Guard (ESG), including a short talk on the Roman Army and their kit by Chris Haines.  The ESG was on hand to answer questions throughout the evening. and it was a great opportiunity to meet Emma Stuart the new Director of the Museum.

WELCOMING EMMA STUART AS MUSEUM DIRECTOR

We welcome Emma Stuart to her new role as Museum Director.

Emma, who has worked at the museum for over 14 years, enthuses, “I’m thrilled to take up the role of Museum Director. The museum is, without question, one of the best in the country and the collections are magnificent. During my time at the museum, I have been lucky enough to work in partnership with organisations across the town, the region and nationally. I look forward to developing these further to celebrate the rich heritage of Cirencester and the Cotswolds.”

GLADIATORS: A CEMETERY OF SECRETS

The gladiators have arrived in Cirencester as part of the Gladiators Cemetery of Secrets touring exhibition.

To celebrate the opening and our support of this exhibition, we held a Gala Drinks Reception on Friday, 21 October, which provided an ideal preview opportunity for the Friends prior to the exhibition launch to the public on Saturday, 22 October.
